When I play this game, the battery indicator drops rapidly and my iPod touch 2G becomes very warm to the touch. What the heck is it doing to warrant a battery drop like that? One time I was playing and I walked away. Ten minutes later I picked it up and the iPod had never turned off. It was very hot and of course the battery was in the red zone. I've never seen another instance where my unit just didn't turn off at all. Otherwise, play is good. They shaded the grid so I can see the 9 squares a bit better, but I'd prefer even more shading. I'd also like them to display a confirmation of which game (easy, medium, etc) I chose as I start to play. I'll give it more stars when the fix the battery problem.

I had this on my Palm PDA, which stopped working. Bought a Touch and finally remembered the company name of this great version of sudoku. I bought it immediately. It tells me when I enter a wrong number, so I don't struggle with basing solutions on erroneous entries.

It's good for the stand alone features; just don't have any hopes of getting a spot in the top 25 or so of the daily puzzles. Seems there is some type of hack to do that. 3 seconds to finish a puzzle is a little obvious that it is a computer doing it.

Definitely the best Sudoku game on iPhoneIve tried about 7 Sudoku apps and have determined that there are a few features that make a great sudoku game:Good StatisticsAuto-MarkersGood designRelevant Hints/Technique Guides___I have found some of these in past apps, but never all of them... until this game.The statistics speak for themselves. I dont know of many apps which count much more than the average time. I love the hints feature and its really great to know that its being counted as it pushes you to figure out the puzzle by yourself. Furthermore, the ability to play a scored game each day and participate in leaderboards is unheard of. Given that hints also add time in leaderboards, the statistics can quickly addict you to the mechanics of efficient sudoku solving.The auto-pencil marks are fantastic. Their absence is an absolute deal-breaker in any sudoku game. I like the overall design of the game as well. Subtle shading is used to highlight the relevant box and row for the current selection. This adds context to your selection and helps to block out noise. I also love how numbers are grayed out once they are entered in each block. This has saved me from numerous mistaps. The error options also allow you to flag wrong answers (or not) which is quite helpful.Hints are available to you if you get stuck. The game does this in a very educational manner. Instead of other games, which just give you a random number on the grid; this game tries to nudge you in the right direction by highlighting a block/row/column in which you will find your next answer. It gets better, if you continue asking for hints, they get more direct. Eventually, you will receive a pop-up indicating which technique needs to be used to solve the problem. These hints are very educational and decrease the odds of asking for hints again under the same circumstances. This game will make you a better sudoku player because the hints are not a crutch as much as the are a learning tool.There are some things the game could improve upon:- Selection of boxes feels sluggish if youre sliding your finger over the screen.- Hints which highlight only one box dont actually activate it, which can be annoying because you have to physically tap it later.- The tutorial could be multi-tiered by difficultu to also include more advanced techniques for ambitious players.- Different display options. The light purple, while calming, is a little ugly. Other sudoku apps have different themes based on colour. Some apps even make the sudoku board look like a newspaper! That would be a really neat addition.To conclude, this is the sudoku game to get If youre looking for a game with unlimited play options, addictive leaderboards, educational hints, and a solid game-play experience. I simply havent found a comparable experience on the app store.5 stars.

Been waiting for this version!Ive owned Astraware Sudoku for the Palm and have waited for it to come out on the iPhone. One feature I particularly like is the separate buttons for pencil and pen entries - you dont have to switch between modes. The playing board is easy to read, the row and column highlighting makes it easy to scan both for weeding out numbers.

ExcellentAstraware Sudoku was my favorite Windows Mobile app, and the iPhone version is even better. It is very responsive, and stars almost instantly. This is very important for a game you play while waiting in the cafeteria line. It also looks great, taking full advantage of the iPhone graphics capabilities.A big plus is the ability to download daily puzzles and comparing my scores online.

Finally!THE Sudoku app as far as Im concerned. There is none better. I had the Palm version for years and have tried every other Sudoku app for the iPhone but nothing compares to Atrawares version. So happy its finally out.Simple and clean and easy to set hints or the real numbers and it shows you logic errors.Not a huge fan of the sound effects but those are easily disabled.

Atraware is the bestIve used Astraware on both Palm and Windows mobile. I waited for them to get this running before purchasing Sudoku for iPhone. I was not disappointed. They are still the best. I like the competition with others on the Net, the build your own function, and the layout.

It is here at last!!!!I have been waiting for the iPhone version after being spoiled by Astrawares Palm version. I looked at some of the other offerings but decided to wait. Finally it is here and I can now play one of my favorites in a well designed and intuitive format. It is definitely one of the best. Happy Sudokuing!!!
