	French has the two best language reference apps available in the store that I know of: this and Antidote. Nothing else available for English or Spanish comes even close to the ease of use, aesthetic value, and utility that this app has to offer. Apps like Le Robert make you glad you were a French student. I found no difference in functionality after this update but one new feature that I most anticipated was etymology. This is the only reason I would ever switch from using a bilingual dictionary as a French student because for me knowing where the word comes from helps tremendously in memorizing it, especially since I am familiar with its source language, Latin. The "decouverte" feature could use some improvement in my opinion. Its source seems to be the entire dictionary, which tends to pick out more frequently than I want specialized, technical, and jargon words that are not so useful to the student. The functionality is awesome. The ease of use is indescribable.

	Dico Malin is the most useful tool I have yet to use with the iPhone. I can check the spelling, correct word usage when I have to write in French. Plus the game is actually useful.I have never played any games on my iPhone or my Mac for that matter. Now with Dico Malin, I can actually make good use of my time while waiting at an airport or for an appointment as I learn new words!Way cool! Hope Diagonal make a French Enlgish dictionary for the iPhone soon. The one Diagonal makes for the Mac, along with their application, "ProLexis" is just fabulous for anyone learning French, teaching French, or writing in French. Thanks, Diagonal!

	Etymology is the main reason I sought a French dictionary. This one has a ton of other features with it that make it probably one of the finest apps ever created for iOs 4. French students will delight in this app. The functionality is awesome. The ease of use is indescribable.

	I am a moderately advanced in my study of French, ready for a French only dictionary like this one. It is superb, except for the absence of phonetic characters to indicate the pronunciation of a word. If I am uncertain of the pronunciation of a word, I am forced to consult the SlovoEd French-English dictionary, which I had previously purchased. Otherwise, this dictionary is fantastic. It's very easy to find a word, and to find synonyms and especially expressions and locutions, which can be tough to find in other dictionaries. I will give it 5 stars, but it's really 4.5, and would be 6 with phonetics.

	This is an excellent product for those who wish to use a totally French dictionary without English translations. Le Robert is very authoritative and comprehensive.Just about every word you are likely to encounter in contemporary French is included, along with helpful examples. French abbreviations are deciphered. The use of hypertext makes this a very easy to use reference work.Helpful conjugations of every possible tense also included. Some biographical and historical references are provided with particular orientation toward French culture. At $8.99 this is a bargain, in my opinion. Obviously not intended for those not familiar with the elements of the French language. Highly recommended.

The underlying dictionary is excellent; the use of many well-chosen usage examples, the presence of etymological information, IPA representations of pronunciations which might not follow phonetic norms, very thorough support for synonyms and antonyms, for conjugation of verbs, and for locutions make the definitions exceptionally useful. The addition of proper names to the normal lexical corpus is an interesting and useful one, saving many trips to the encyclopedia when "just enough" information suffices, for example, when an unfamiliar historical or political name is encountered while reading.The UI is very well-designed: layouts are clear, legible, and logical; there is a beautifully-designed hyperlink and history mechanism; control over the display font size makes it easy to read the entries; and full support for landscape mode makes reading large blocks of text - for instance in biographical entries - more like reading printed text. The inclusion of frequency information is decidedly non-typical, as is that of hyphenation information. Even the games are worth playing to increase ones vocabulary. Id love to see the addition of lemmatized searches, phonetic searches, and the inclusion of IPA in every definition.I think the only equal to this monolingual French dictionary in the App Store is that by Éditions Larousse. Given that both the Robert and the Larousse are so reasonably priced for their quality, Id suggest you buy them both. 	It works very well - quite a bargainI have been using this for many months and it works flawlessly. One of my favorite uses is the verb conjugation, it works much better than the Collins bilingual dictionary. The locutions are also very helpful. I cant imagine being without this app.
