Zarik is simple logical game, which consist of 60 levels (from very easy to near-impossible). Its main advantages are clear uncluttered interface and amusing strategic gameplay. You have a wooden board and several dice you have to move to outlined zones.
HOW TO COMPLETE:
- The number of the die is the number of moves it can make.
- Touch and drag the die. Move the die to an outlined zone with no moves remaining.
- Touch screen with two fingers to enter the prediction mode.
- Some places are stack, so you cannot go there…

This game is addictive, elegantly designed, and fun. Openfeint achievements would add that extra bit of satisfaction that I crave. I'm not sure how long it will take to complete, but I think this game will please most any puzzle gamer.

Definitely a thinking game. You roll each die the prescribed number of moves. There are some catches - obstacles, etc., and you can push a die as well. The levels are all really well done - one thing I do wish is that the outlines be made a little more visible under the dice so you can easily see where they need to end up. Touch controls work well, and a nice clean interface. Overall, great logic puzzle game.

...frustrating you can't try any level, so if one level has you stumped you HAVE to bang your head against that level's wall until you succeed. I suppose that builds character. And for me, some higher levels have been much easier than lower ones, too. But cool game.

The developer of Zarik should be praised for dreaming up such a highly original puzzle game. The concept itself is brilliant and the execution is well done for the most part. However, execution does suffer from a few minor flaws: 1) No Retina Display support. While the low resolution graphics in Zarik actually scale to iPhone 4's high-pixel density screen the best of any game I've seen to date, they are still somewhat visibly non-Retina Display caliber (as is the icon), for which there is no excuse by this point in time. 2) Forget about Fast App Switching support, there isn't even any support for state-saving! When you tap the Home button or switch to another app, you lose your progress within the current puzzle. This is just inexcusable, plain and simple. Full iOS 4 Fast App Switching support needs to be implemented. 3) Some of the puzzles are unnecessarily small in size. Some of the puzzles inexplicably take up only a portion of the screen, causing them to be smaller and harder to manipulate than they need to be. All the puzzles should be enlarged to consume most of the screen (with a slight border so as to be aesthetically pleasing). 4) It is unclear at first what "Prediction Mode" is used for. With a little more gameplay, it becomes clear that it simply turns the dice translucent so you can more easily see the outlines of where the dice need to end up. However, while implemented flawlessly with a two-finger tap, the feature needs to be explained more clearly and be given a more descriptive name. 5) There should be a puzzle Reset button, in addition to the Undo button. Sometimes you just want to go back to the beginning. 6) Building on the above point, there should be some sort of pseudo-"Game Over" message or prompt when you've used up all the dice flips. It should be non-intrusive and non-modal, but it should alert you that you've "lost" and highlight or pulsate the Reset button so you can start over. However, the Undo button should still be available at this point so you can Undo your moves one-by-one if you'd like. The "Game Over" message would add just a modicum of feeling of competition to the game by offering the possibility of "failure" rather than complete open-endedness. 7) Less a nitpick of the current implementation and more an idea on how to build on the concept: What would make the game even more fantastic is if additional types of traps, obstacles, or dice were added to make gameplay more interesting. Two games that come to mind that have done this in really innovative ways are Labyrinth 2 and Ragdoll Blaster. While obviously offering drastically different gameplay dynamics from Zarik, these games implement different sorts of obstacles in interesting ways, and I think Zarik could find inspiration in these games for how to creatively integrate some additional obstacles into Zarik. While there are certainly minor flaws in its execution, it has to be said that Zarik is a truly original puzzle game that offers lots of entertainment (and frustration). It strikes the perfect balance between difficulty and accomplishment, and for that the developer should be applauded. Standing in the way of a best-in-class, five-star app, are a few minor niggles with its execution. As soon as these are improved, Zarik will become one of the best puzzle games in the App Store, and I look forward to modifying my review accordingly.

Great, challenging game. SPOILER for level 29: Start with the 3 on the left and put it under the 1. Use the 1 to push it down. Move the left 2 up one and the right 2 down one. Push the right 3 up one and over two. There are now two 1's left. Move the left 1 to the right one and the remaining 1 up one. And it solved!
