I have been using the European and the North America versions and really like those. So I purchased the Brazil one too hoping it will match the other ones. It didn't becuase of slightly inaccurate map data especially outside bigger cities which can create a lot of confusion. I tested this mainly in Rio Grande do Sul. It worked fairly well in Porto Alegre. Outside POA it had problems. The map data is often by several meters off from the actual location. This caused very confusing directions and I ended up making my own decisions by comparing map data to where I was. Some streets and tiny villages are not mapped at all. E.g. I was in the Serra Gaucha driving through little villages and vineyards and many of the streets connecting those villages are not in there. This is in strong contrast to my experience in the Douro vineyards in Portugal where even the smallest of the streets were to my amazement correctly mapped. I suggested to add a feature to allow user to upload their actual routes and correct map data in exchange for credits. Some of the Navigon competitors do so already. Overall I would still stick with Navigon even for Brazil given the bad Brazil reviews of competitors and my overall good experience with Navigon in other regions. However, I think this should sell at a fraction of what it does today until the things mentioned above are sorted out.

Been using this for a month now in Sao Paulo and it works well. GPS takes up to a minute to pick up a signal. I am using with a car kit and a case and it still work fine. I picked this one over others because it uses navteq maps and I heard they get updated more often and are more complete. I have not found any major errors in the maps. (correction: minor changes are now required, lots of building going on with Sao Paulo's Marginal Pinheiros and Tiete) A few things that should be improved, also compared to the other versions: - It is a bit difficult at times to work out when you have a complicated junction what way to go. The alerts come very much in time, just needs to say/speak the street names as well, but it works fine to keep an eye on the screen where the next street is displayed. - One of my biggest gripes is that it is supposed to work with the built in contacts, and it has a non customizable icon for the contacts in the footer bar, but it does NOT recognize any of the addresses if it has a correct full ZIP code in the format of for example 01404-001. It works with some custom 5 digit zip codes that do not seem to be official use to me. Since most of my addresses are using a proper zip code that also works on google maps, navigon is not able to use these proper addresses. Please fix urgently! UPDATE 1.4: still not fixed in 1.4 Some features from the European and US versions etc. are not available here apparently: - speed limit control and announcements - lane support on larger streets - realistic views in 3D and the mentioned address problems. - Zoom and pan around the 3D view while on a route. Update 1.4: this was now added - Also would like a SIMPLER search, similar to Google Maps, where I can just enter a street, zip, city or keyword to give me a list of destinations. UPDATE 1.4: this is now available and works excellent. - Also missing: details route step by step overview with the possibility to edit the route, add or remove streets I do or do not want to go through on my route. UPDATE 1.4: This was added, but you only see the list once you proceed to navigate the route and you can not make changes or add/remove streets. But much better now. Here a few good things: - love the interface, very much iphone UI. - excellent options for route planning like on foot, car etc. - Several options for how to calculate the route: optimal, fast, scenic, short etc. - Good speed when recaculating a route. - Portuguese language support is featuring a native speaker, you can tell the lady is from Sao Paulo. I am using the english setting though. App uses your iPhone's language as default setting. if you come out of a building garage the gps will take a while to find a position, what I do is turn on navigon, go right into the MAPS. Another tip: If you install this app and you have crashes, freezes and hangups do as Navigon recommends, sync, backup, full erase and restore your iPhone from the Backup. It will make it quicker to startup and fix the crashes. Also make sure you have your mobile safari tabs closed to free up ram if you use an iPhone 3G, like I do. A wish: Please move the volume control either into the navigation view or at the top of the settings. To have to scroll down every time is BAD, specially while driving. Also it seems to not remember the volume settings at times. PS: volume is nice and loud if needed, no complaints there. Update 1.4: welcome changes and the app has never let me down. I can totally trust it in unknown areas of town. Update 1.5.1: worked very well, using the Panorama extension and loving it. Lot's of construction in Sao Paulo has caused these maps to be a bit outdated, specially around the Marginais. Panorama view is not working right with iOS 4. We need the 1.6 update!

I have yet to be able to use this new version for an entire trip. I hope a new version will fix this as it worked before and it worked GREAT. - Still would like to be able to input local ZIP codes properly. - Still would also like a quick way to adjust VOLUME as hunting for the tiny volume controller in the options menu during driving is very difficult and dangerous. - Volume still sets itself to whatever it likes on each launch. Mostly to max and that is too loud for the little speaker to handle.

Terrible GPS system - Outdated Maps, No spoke street namesI am using this version in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The app does not recognize lots of vlid addresses in the heart of Sao Paulo. The app does not speak the street names (as you have in the US). The app has routed me to turn the wrong way on a one way street 4 times so far. Time estimates are a joke. It assumes a 60mph average speed - good luck finding that in downtown Sao Paulo 0 it should use a more realistic 10-20 mph average speed.I would not recommend this app to anyone.

Tradução ruimEsta nova versão trouxe boas novidades. O gps parece mais ágil porém a tradução ficou ruim, números de ruas são chamados de polegadas sem contar a tradução do texto no App que fica a desejar. Outro problema é ter que baixar o mapa sempre que se apaga o aplicativo e o download é lento. Mesmo com uma internet de 35Mbits o download demora muito e ele não continua em segundo plano, ou seja, você tem que deixar o Navigon ativo pra baixar o mapa.Melhorarei a nota se pelo menos um destes "problemas" forem resolvidos.
