This app is sick. At first I didn't grok it; I thought it was simply a loop mixer with some effects, and while this is true it can do these things it's strength is definitely capturing spontaneous performances. I sat on the couch mixing and automating some of the effects thinking to myself it would be killer if this thing was actually recording my performance. After about 8 minutes of screwing around I got into a good groove and was really feeling what was coming out of the iPad. I looked up on the toolbar and low and behold a record button did exist. I pressed this and the app asked me for a name to record all I had done. I named it and loaded it again because I felt like I was dreaming but it was real, the App captured every movement and every mix, and not only this it showed me in realtime animating the faders. Totally hip! Now I'm amped to load up Live with some of my favorite instruments and effects, bounce to some stems and load them up into Looptastic HD to perform and capture those bits in realtime (Live can also do this but LTHD is even more spontaneous than Live IMO) No regrets on this purchase. Well done!

My only complaints about this app are it's sparse (and out of date) help screen, the wasting of screen real estate on the logo, and some obvious missing features such as the ability to tweak a saved recording and the lack of a clear button. Perhaps the most annoying thing is not being able to see the playhead position in a muted sample -- which makes it hard to tell when to bring it in. More variety in loop sets and some additional features.

Music creation and mixing is one of the "killer uses" of the iPad and this is the first app that I feel is really worthy of the platform. It's beautiful, intuitive, fully multitouch, few if any bugs, and in no time you'll be mixing hours and hours of danceable party music. Hook it up to some nice speakers and you'll see what I mean. Great job guys and can't wait for more loop sets in the store.

I spent hours playing with this since owning it. The design and learning curve are extraordinarily simple. The wealth of experimenting and fun I've had with only the free downloaded samples has been worth the price alone. I'm a major fan of playing with loop-based music making (having played with Acid Pro for many moons, looping in Garageband, and owning a Korg Kaossilator) and this fits my style and quenches my thirst perfectly. Great stuff!!!

I have been composing music for 16 years. (Soulwire) I was pleasantly surprised at the depth of this program. I love the thought of breaking my tracks into stems and using this to app it up in a live setting. A few suggestions: what about a button or way to sync up and have the sliders automatically move in the next measure? Sometimes finger misses the slider and it'd be nice to have a way to prep it. Also, the strip at the top would be better with an option to permanently move where it is playing instead of having it jump back after finger lifts. Lastly, a pitch option would be cool for loops that have closely related keys. I only give thoughts on apps that I love. This is definitely getting play in my live sets. It is incredible fun to break apart my songs and remix them.

First, you can't select when to start recording. As soon as you select a loop set it auto starts. Meaning if you want to play it back to a friend, you'll have to trudge through 5 minutes where you were figuring out which loops you wanted, what sounded best, etc and you can't fast forward through all that. It's incredibly stupid

I have never written a review for an app before and I've had an iPhone since launch, I recently purchased an iPad and at first glance I didn't notice any good music apps, but when I came across this, it looked a lot like GarageBand and I must say this is one of the best music apps I've ever downloaded ever!!! It comes with loads of pre-loaded loops and the user-interface is very simple yet you can do almost anything, I highly recommend this app to anyone remotely interested in music apps for the iPad!! 5 out of 5 stars!!
