I wanted to ask for my money back after I purchased this app. It was too slow connecting to remote macs. They released an update that supported 256 colors and this thing works well now. It could be a little snappier, but I like the direction they are headed! It's great not to have to lug around my laptop to work remotely now. Well worth the price!

Couldn't get this to refresh for anything and now, with thousands instead of millions of colors enabled, it's pretty responsive displaying three monitors at once. Really happy with this purchase now. If I could request one last thing -- and it might be there and I just haven't found it -- I'd love a way to choose only one screen to display. Usually I only want one anyway, and if that improves speed further, than I'd be thrilled.

This app is good but it needs to support the better encryption on rdp for win7 and vista. Then it will be a great app.

- Need to be able to completely hide that text bar above the keyboard. I cannot see what I type, because it overlaps the view in either orientation - double tap drag doesn't work. - need support for multiple sessions - need support to stream through an ssh tunnel - put ctrl alt cmd keys nearby the keyboard or switching between those sets somehow easier. Reaching top of the screen slows down a lot. I will update as I encounter more bugs and things get fixed. Thanks, please fix bugs before proceeding to new features.

App looks promising but no apparent support for connect to console via RDP. I say "apparently" because developer hasn't replied to my questions and support link is broken. I might change my review if someone would kindly respond.

I've used it for connecting to a windows machine and it works fine. The ui for emulating windows controls was a little funny at first, but surprisingly easy to use.

Updated: This is an update to the original review (below). Verion 1.2.1 seems to have fixed the lag issue. The developer says it is a fix for "Thousands of colors on OSX" that will help on slower networks. First off, I was having trouble with Windows RDP and OSX on a fast wireless network. Cisco 1242 AP, gig to a core with 10GB uplinks to VMWare running Windows VMs. (I'm a network engineer). Prior to 1.2.1 the performance was unusable while the free RDP app worked great. This update fixed that issue as well as my performance issue to OSX with VNC. The bells and whistles on this app make it worth it now that the performance issue has been worked out. Version 1.1 review ------------- This app is crazy slow. At first I thought it was my network so I tested it at my office on a nice Cisco b/g/N network that is extremely fast, and I had the same issue. So I downloaded Remote Desktop lite for free just to see if it was the iPad. Remote Desktop Lite was three to five times faster for Windows RDP. In some cases Desktop Connect won't even finish rendering my VNC connections to Mac systems. The features of the app are rich and the layout is nice. It can automatically setup VNC over SSH which can be a pain to do manually. That is why it got a 2 star. But until the performance problem is fixed, this app is not worth $2 let alone $12. It's a shame because I love EZShare for the iPhone (and wish Antecea would come out with that for the iPad) so I bought this. The real shame is that using EZShare's iPhone app on the iPad to RDP or VNC to a server is still faster than Desktop Connect for the iPad.

I wasn't a big fan of this app in initial few versions...performance was spotty. But, the past couple of updates have made such a HUGE difference in speed and stability that I actually prefer to access our remote servers on my iPad rather than using Remote Desktop Connection on my MacBook. Keep that up with apps like this and MacBook sales might take a hit...though iPads would be selling like hotcakes. Anyway, whether I am on wifi or 3G, doesn't matter, this app cranks the screen updates so fast it is like I am virtually sitting at the server. The new Google Easy Connect doesn't work all the time for me accessing my MacBook from the internet, but I don't need to do that much and it is a new feature that I am sure will get improved. Great job to the developers of this app...keep up the good work. Glad I didn't spend more money on LogMeIn.

Bluetooth keyboards still don't work properly. You have to select the keyboard icon on the top toolbar to even get the keyboard to respond. And when you do, arrow keys, the tab key, and other important keys don't work; it's very hard to do real work like editing files. You're forced to use the virtual keyboard for those keys, which is a hassle, because it slows you down. The 2.01 update makes it worse, because when you select the keyboard icon on the top toolbar, this time, a big black rectangle covers half of the screen. You're forced to choose: the BT keyboard or half the screen. It didn't do that in version 2.00. Also, when playing audio from a computer in the same LAN, (in this case, a Windows Server 2003 SP 2 host), the progress bar indicator's playback speed is way too fast in any media player I've tried: Winamp, Foobar 2000, Windows Media Player, DivX player, etc. I'd like to see this work for lossless audio, but it doesn't matter what audio quality you set--high, medium, and low have the same problem. The playback indicator finishes in something like 30 seconds, when it should be 3 minutes. The audio sounds fine for that duration, so you can hear sound only for the first few seconds. Other RDP clients like Jump , iTap, and Wyse don't have this problem. I hope these issues are addressed in the next release. On the plus side, they release updates often.

The new feature to use google to share desktops works super smooth. I had a friend share his desktop to me in a minute, it was astonishingly easy! Highly recommended!!!!!

I will start with the pros. Really easy to set up and I love I can be downstairs and access my computer upstairs. New version is much better. Now the cons, or I should say con. It won't let me connect every time I open app so everytime I open app I have to delete my computer and resign back up. Kind of a pain.

It works and is very easy to setup, but it is very slow and choppy. I found a better one. check out iTeleport. It is much smoother and faster.....almost realtime. iTeleport is about 30 bucks though. To me it is worth it though to pay the extra 20 bucks for a better product.

this new update is awesome! I started to use this to connect to my work computer which is running Windows but now also use it to get to my home computer which is a Macbook. The toolbar camera video viewer is really cool for watching my huge movie library right from my computer. I got a bluetooth keyboard for myself for the holidays and now when I connect to my computer I can type super fast. I can finally watch flash websites like my friends photography web page that I couldn't see before from iPad Safari. I bought LogMeIn but after spending 30 bucks for it they wanted to charge me extra $$ monthly for streaming music to my iphone and ipad. This app does FREE music streaming! this is the best remote desktop app out there!
