This is great. Especially the versatility allowed by combining pre-defined layouts with the ability to place and move cards yourself-- I hadn't realized how much I do that with real cards (laying a second card down to modify one position, or sliding cards slightly to emphasize one particular grouping). To be honest, my first reaction was: "I don't want this". But after some hesitation I got it and I am very happy with it. The application accomplishes with flying colors a translation of the experience of reading the tarot, from the table, to the screen. It even has the possibility of working with the Jean Dodal, which is my deck of choice at the moment, so, I can really do in the iPad what I do on my table. In that regard, the application is remarkable. But up to here it's main accomplishment is that now we have a tarot deck that can run out of batteries. I need more than that. I find silly how excited we all get when a machine can replicate reality. From Jacques de Vaucanson's digesting duck, or even worst, from the Greek's notion of mimesis, to James Cameron's Avatar, our minds haven't really progressed, only the technology has changed. We still use all technological means available to fool flies with our fake apples. What really got me excited about Beautiful Tarot was the possibility freeing the images from their original format, and the fact that it allows me to email my readings. It automatically gives you a horrid canned reading, but you can delete that and write your own interpretations. I wish I could record my voice! Most important, it allows you to zoom in and look at the cards in detail. Right there, we begin to see of the possibilities of the 'digital tarot'. A tarot deck never runs out of batteries, but you can't get deep into the image like this App allows you to do. I wish they would have a plain, white background, choice. The App feels as prehistoric as the iPad itself. I mean, right now they are both wonderful. I can't get enough of them. But they just mark a beginning. Now I wish that the developers of the Beautiful Tarot would customize the App for me, with the Jean Dodal restored by Jean Claude Flornoy!

1) Each card when brung up full screen losses it's HD display and and looks looks the older version. Please revamp the cards for HD please. Note: I will put five stars when I see the above updated.

This app feels the closest to using an actual Tarot deck. There is a physicality that is involved in doing a reading that is missing or is diminished in other programs. With Beautiful Tarot I feel like I have my travel deck with me.
