This app looked promising, since I have not had formal Spanish education, but have some comprehension from exposure. It has many phrases that are useful and broken down by system, but the organization of the information can be improved, especially if you are going to be using it while speaking. Unfortunately, since it's just grouped by system, it's only useful for reference. There should be an option to organize it by specialty. For example, by having all the OB/Gyn related questions grouped together and divided by topics such as post-partum check up or gyn history. Also some sections currently are not comprehensive enough. Perhaps if the developers think of how one would use this app for each specialty, then it would be more useful in practice. Hope to see updates soon.

If you are looking to get a good rudimentary grasp of Spanish medical terminology, then this will suffice. Can't really say that it offers more than that. Wish I hadn't spent the full 6.99 for it, though.

I find this app pretty useful on a daily basis in the emergency room, and it is helpful. So far, my only problem is the fact that there are not more entries pertaining to pregnancy. For example, what is your due date? Or how far along are you? Or how many pregnancies have you had? I'd like to see an update with more pregnancy related ?'s as well as a bookmark or favorites feature. If those were added, I'd consider this a five star app. EDIT: they quickly added an OBGYN section along with a bunch of other additions, and a huge searchable glossary. Definitely a 5 star app now!

I have some basic Spanish language skills, but it can still be hard to speak with patients about some specific things. This application helps me supplement and fill gaps in my knowledge of Medical terms in Spanish. This app is crucial if you work with hispanic patients.

I've been using this app for about a month now in a predominately spanish speaking environment where finding translators in the dead of night can often be a problem. I usually glance over this app before I see my patient to make sure I have specific vocabulary and phrases down. Over a few weeks, I've found myself not asking for a translator as often and communicating more effectively with my spanish speaking patients. And for the times I am stumped, the search feature has been a time saver. I forgot the word for "dizzy" so I punched it into the search function and not only did I get the word, it had the proper phrase.

This is a great app! I'm an ER doc and about 20 to 30% of my patients or their families speak only Spanish. I can usually get an interpreter, but it really slows down patient flow. This app is really a boon to my practice. Patients appreciate it when I can do my own talking (although my listening is pretty slow) and it really improves my efficiency. I have a rudimentary knowledge of Spanish, which is a great help. SOME NOTES TO CRITICS: For critics who want an auditory form: Spanish is an extremely phonetic language--it is not like trying to figure out how a word in Gaelic might be pronounced. This is not a course is basic Spanish! It presumes that you have some pre-existing knowledge of the language. For "Do NOT buy - Not happy:" It is obvious that THIS REVIEWER HAS NO KNOWLEDGE OF EITHER MEDICINE OR SPANISH. If he/she can't understand the questions and he thinks they are pointless, and he thinks it is unhelpful to "any medical personal" (personnel?), it is only because he is totally ignorant about both medicine and Spanish. And to the medical interpreter, why in heaven's name are you looking at a $.99 app that is clearly for beginners when you are an expert? I certainly hope that you know everything is this app. I am certain that the developers are actively seeking constructive criticism, since they are DEVELOPERS, so don't waste readers' time or diss the developer with inane and irrelevant criticisms.

I found this helpful with the subcategories of different systems. I think its more for people who've taken spanish in the past and useful for review of pertinet questions. You don't need audio if you already know how to pronounce the words as a previous post suggested.

This app is a fantastic help when working with spanish speaking patients. As a new app it certainly has things to add on as it evolves over time but is very well organized, thorough, and easy to use! It is a good study tool as well to have during down time to practice Spanish phrases. I especially like that a category was added specifically for different verbs as it is often hard to use medical spanish resources without having a baseline knowledge of verbs and their conjugations... my only suggestion is perhaps being able to click on each verb and be led to a list of the proper conjugations for each for those that do not know how to conjugate. I look forward to seeing where how this app improves over time, Great Work!

Working at the cardiology division, I barely have enough time to check my iphone... let alone an app. However, since I'm having to see 15 patients within the span of 2 hours, communications can sometimes become a bigger challenge. Unfortunately, I have limited knowledge in Spanish, and many of my patients are of Hispanic descent. This app remains open on my phone during rounds every single day. This has helped me tremendously with my patients, especially when giving instructions. The search function is cool and comes in handy often. I was quite surprised at how most of the phrases were common and used daily throughout the Hospital. I actually go through this app on my ride back home, and have learned quite a bit of spanish within a few days. Only thing better would be having an actual Spanish translator following you around all day. I highly recommend this to anyone in the health field.

I currently use medical spanish as a second year medical student and am very happy with the update and product. The new pronunciation is awesome and has been very helpful with practicing my spanish. I would highly recommend this product and challenge any other product on the market to meet the quality and accuracy of medical spanish.

Like others said, it could benefit from audio & bookmarking, but otherwise plenty of phrases and very useful. Update: When I upgraded to 2.0, the bookmarking worked, but the audio didn't... at least I thought. So, I reinstalled and still didn't hear anything. Fortunately, I finally put on headphones & it works. Wish it worked on speakerphone.
