INSTALLATION AND SETUP
Please note that since iPod touch and iPad (WiFi only) do not have built-in GPS-receivers, an external GPS-receiver is required. Compatible are only those which are officially supported by Apple. Due to the size of the package, we recommend purchasing and downloading the application via iTunes.
Note: Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life. Background navigation has to be turned on, you can do this under Settings / Advanced settings.
NNG will make the latest maps available as part of the free software updates, depending on availability. Conditions apply.

	As anyone here knows, it is near impossible to find places in Costa Rica. There are very few street signs and no addresses. Literally no addresses - the country has set a 10-year goal to develop them. After downloading last night, I used this App to go from a hotel in Heredia to the other side of the Central Plain. It was flawless. I do not know how the developers were able to compile the amount of information in this App. The roads twist and turn down here and many are not asphalted. I have never bought an App for more than $9.99 up to this point, but am thrilled with this purchase!

	iGo Costa Rica: goodDid it work well? Yes. Was it perfect? No. Would I buy it again? Yes. Just spent two weeks in Costa Rica and used iGo Costa Rica on my iPhone 3Gs. Would have literally and figuratively been lost without it. Has some weaknesses; but, definitely worth the cost, considering there is little competition.Pros: 1) Good street maps (very complete and include various helpful tips);2) Effective directions (particularly for a country where many/most streets are not marked with name signs); 3) Good overall functionality;4) Excellent route-recalculation if you miss a turn (particularly easy to do in San Jose where traffic is very crowded);5) Good screen design;6) Reasonable list of "points of interest";7) Good notation regarding gas stations and parking lots (gas can be an issue in the countryside)8) Excellent help with one-way streets;and more.Cons:1) Poor satellite location algorithm (I routinely needed to use another program [Accuterra] to find my satellite location, and then [once my iPhone knew where I was] I would switch back to iGo [which would "know" my location from the other program]. Without this it took "forever" for iGo to figure out where I was, and it was unable to locate me if I was actively moving in a car. This feature clearly needs work. So, if you buy this program be sure to get some other program [like Accuterra, which is free I think, or something else] which can do a much quicker job of finding your location.2) Very awkward to mark a waypoint. Commonly if you are actively traveling you might like to mark a point of interest so that you can return to it later. This program makes that difficult and awkward. The process is neither simple nor intuitive nor quick for this function. But, ultimately, it can make waypoints and I used them frequently. 3) Changing levels of magnification (zooming in or out on a map - particularly to get the "big picture") is limited and mildly awkward to use. The software does it, but the function is not fluid. So, if you are used to Garmin products youll find this product to be less fluid and intuitive. However, it does work and given the current market choices it is still a product I would buy again. And, even though I own Garmin products Im very anxious to see them get more competition. So, I hope this iGo product and its siblings continue to develop.

	App reviewThis is a great application. I bought it one day before going to costa rica and wasnt sure what to expect. The GPS works great and was essential to my trip since I didnt know anything about CR. As a software developer, I can say that the developers of this app are really good. There is a lot of functionality that you might or might not use. Finding gas, finding where you sleep, or nearby POIs. Ill get their applications for all future travel.

	Problem solvedLost my gps in Costa Rica and was thrilled when I found this alternative for my iPhone 4. Worked well. Tried for two weeks. Tried on my 3GS but had problems with satellite reception. (3GS issue not app). Wish saved POI where easier to edit. Great app; got me though several CR cities and nameless streets with no problems.

	Absolutely Amazing App!!!I hesitated buying this due to the price. Do not hesitate. It is worth every penny. I just cane back from a business trip to Costa Rica and it never failed to get me where I needed to go. Even the dirt roads that go to the coffee plantations were in the database! Do not rent GPS from the car rental agency - their units do not work nearly as well. Do bring your car charger - you will want to keep your iPhone plugged into the car charger. Ive never submitted a review for an app before - but this app is AMAZING!!

	Excellent toolThis navigation tool worked wonderfully for us. If you know Costa Rica, you also know street addresses are rare, so you have to use landmark for most destinations. The maps seem complete and the POI lists are good. We loved the speed limit warnings for most of the country as speeding fines are very very high. The app itself responds immediately when started and is well designed. I highly recommend.I hope to see updates with additional POIs as these are critical here, also would like to see speed limits for the entire country (noticed that speed limits did not show in Guanacaste for example). Also, a nice enhancement would be to see selected POI types on the moving map.

	Accurate and dependable the whole trip!This app absolutely paid for itself the first day using it. I am so glad I decided to make the investment. I drove from San Jose to Dominical. From there I drove to Manual Antonio and then to La Fortuna. Within each city we drove all about to various attractions and restaurants. The app was spot on. It even warned me when I was over the speed limit. I never experienced any lag either. It worked exactly the same as my GPS here in the states. I would recommend this app over renting a GPS at the car rental. You will own it to use it again and its more accurate. Pura Vida!!!

	Flawless navigationWe just returned from a 16 day road trip through Costa Rica only a day before the release of version 2.0. Using the last iteration of ver. 1, we were able to flawlessly navigate through urban streets and remote mountain roads identified only as "unnamed road in poor condition." Every twist and turn of such roads was plotted with amazing accuracy, as were the locations of tiny businesses along the way. Both in terms of accuracy of roads and the comprehensive database of services, this app far exceeded the dedicated GPS unit I use in the USA. The app quickly plots a route and provides clear verbal and visual turn by turn directions to your destination. Because the maps and data are preloaded with the app, there are no data roaming charges while navigating. GPS navigation is, however, a drain on the battery, so a car charger or dash board mount with charger is a good idea.The release of ver. 2.0 on my return home has only made me start planning my next trip.

	Worth the moneyI just got back from a two-week vacation in Costa Rica. We rented a car and spent a lot of time traveling areas that included: Rincon de la vieja, Monteverde, Arenal, Liberia, San Jose, and the Nicoya peninsula. This app worked great. It got us where we needed to go (on a good route)100 percent of the time. The time estimates were accurate. It never lost a signal for more than 10 seconds and showed every road on the map no matter how small.It does not use data roaming, so there were no charges incurred (though you cannot turn on airplane mode, so you may recieve text messages). I pluged my iphone into my car charger/fm transmitter. My only complaint is that the app is not incredibly intuitive to use...I would suggest playing around with it before you go and maybe add all the places you think youll be visiting to your "favorites" beforehand (the app found all of the parks, hotels, and eateries and was extremely useful for findings banks and gas stations along the way).A GPS is really a must in Costa RIca if you are travelling by car to a few places. GPS rental from the rental car agencies cost $10 a day, so it makes sense to get this app if you are staying more than 5 days.
