For simple budgeting this program works well. However, I have discovered a bug. If you have more budgeting categories than fit on the screen and have to scroll you can never get to the last item. The only way to make changes to that item is to edit the list order and move it up in the list. You can then edit or add transactions to the item. However you will have to repeat this next time you want to edit or add transactions to the last item in the list.

With the addition of a couple features, this would be great. I'd really like to be able to see total income, how much I've spent and the balance for the month.

I've had this app for a week now, and I got to put it to use this past week while shopping for household items and groceries. I was able to input each item without a problem while walking through the stores, and after adding each item I could see immediately how much I had available in my budget. Before I had this app, I usually had to estimate, and unfortunately most of the time I wound up seriously overspending or underbuying (so I wouldn't go over budget). I'm happy to say that after using this, I wound up staying within my budget and it is one of my "must-have" apps! This is best used for expenses that may vary all the time.I do have a few suggestions for the developer, some of which may have already been mentioned:1. Remove the default "0.00" and leave it blank. This will help any shopper save time with the inputing.2. Make categories editible. If it is editible, it is not clear how to do it- and I played with the app for awhile. I wind up deleting the categories and having to re-input them. 4. Make it so that one can change the date of the transaction, rather than the date when the item was inputed.5. Make it so that the cycle can be bi-weekly, or from a certain date period. This will help those like me who get paid every other Friday. I also know people who work for the state who get paid only once every 2 months (bi-monthly).6. It would be really neat to have an option for Tax where the user can input their local sales tax percentage.I think once these issues are resolved, the app will be perfect. It's a great app that's simple to use, and it really does help with budgeting.For me personally, I wind up using the "SPEND" App with the "ZENBE LIST" App (makes lists for shopping items and anything else) and then with the "BUDGET" App, which helps me with my overall budget for income, fixed, and variable expenses.

I don't understand why people are throwing negative review for this small, cheap and decent application. Where all these expectation coming from? it's $1.99As the application title says "Spend" and description confirms, it is budget software, so why do you expect to track your income?Where all these cheap iPhone users all of sudden coming from? complaining about buck 99 application that actually work.

Too basic and not enough options, I wanted to add income and was surprised that there is no bi-weekly selection. I wish there was some sort of a free trial period for all of the apps.

(Original review below)I am updating my review to say that the two issues I had problems (see below) with have been corrected promptly and I am really happy with the app now. A simple app that does exactly what I need it to. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Very basic app which is all I need right now, so I would normally give it 4 starts. However, I just ran into something that I am really not crazy about (I just got the app) hence the 3 starts - when you enter an expense it forces you to save it to today's date. The problem is that I will enter expenses today from the previous couple days, so this field loses meaning for me. I would want to be able to enter whatever date within the budget cycle (not future) that I want.I also have to mention what so many others have mentioned, since it seems to basic and a bit annoying: the default 0.00 in the amount fields that you have delete (or clumsily edit) in order to enter your amount. For an app that is all about entering amounts, this seems like unpolished programming.For one buck, though, I would still purchase this simple and straightforward app. I'm confident these issues will be taken care of soon in a future update to the app.

Until apps, I was using the Web app BudgetBuster which is very similar--a program for making sure you don't exceed your spending limits for my various budgets. I am so glad there is an app for this now.Feature requests:1. It's important for me to be able to enter my own date--sometimes I need to enter an expense from yesterday, or even add to the next month before I forget (such as when I schedule a payment with my bill paying service).2. How about an autocomplete for expense items based on history?If you have more than 8 or 9 budgets, there is a bug in this version in which you can't access the last budget in the list--on the developer's site there is a note about creating a "dummy" budget; if you edit the list and place that one at the bottom, you'll be able to access all your budgets. According to their blog, this will be fixed as soon as Apple reviews the new version. This work-around is acceptable for now.Great price! Looking forward to updates. Thanks!

I use quicken to plan my categorized spending for the month. Unfortunately i'm unable to keep track of what I spend when it counts the most (when I'm on the road). What I do is set my categorized spending budgets on quicken and then manually track it with Spend. Awesome combination. Now with the upgrade it's 10 times more usable. Well worth the $.

I am going back to my trusty paper notebook. I've never lost it. I know that this is only a dollar but if you are going to take the time to log important data, don't do it with this application.

Great app!! I like how you can check out the developers website and see what updates are coming soon. For example, i already see that bi-weekly budgets are coming soon which will really be great as i can divide budgets up by paycheck. Would loooove for icons to be added that you can attach to each of the categories you create so that it is a little more visually appealing and easy to spot the category you want. Overall, great job!!

Very well designed and simple to use. This app has changed my spending habits drastically. I recommend to anybody who just wants to make sure they don't overspend without having to link up credit cards and bank accounts like other personal finance apps require.

I would add three things to this:1) When entering new expenses - just have the box blank instead of with 0.00 - have to delete this every time2) The aforementioned problem with not being able to scroll down and select items below the last visible item (mentioned by others)3) Addition of separate pages for different budgets (for example home, work, travel, etc instead of all on one page).Otherwise I like it overall, especially for the price.

I love this app. It is simple to use, easy to read and helps me bring my most important budgeting forecasts with me mobiley. It'd be great if you could edit a budget amount without having to delete the category entirely (maybe you can and I'm just not doing it right - any suggestions would be welcome). And if those 0.00's would disappear when entering amounts, but those should be easy fixes. Great App, highly recommend. Thanks. W

At first the app downloaded and was crashing all the time by just opening it. Spend Support was prompt to assist and now I'm a happy camper. If you encounter the same crashing problem just reboot your iphone and download again...one of a few simple solutions.
