I purchased HT Professional Recorder. I wanted to use it to record voice files for transcription to text via Dragon Naturally Speaking or MacSpeech Scribe. I am very unhappy to discover that HT Professional Recorder DOES NOT record professional quality audio. Unlike iProRecorder, iTalk, and other recording software, HT Professional records only 16.0 kHz WAV files, not 44.1 kHz CD quality WAV files. There is no option to change the quality of the recording. The recording is clearly muffled and not as clear as with other apps that record 44.1 kHz CD quality files. This seriously limits the ability of transcribing software, such as Nuance's Dragon Naturally Speaking or MacSpeech Scribe, to recognize and transcribe the voice recordings into text. I wish the developers would upgrade HT Professional Recorder to allow recording in high quality 44.1 kHz CD quality WAV files. Otherwise: • I love the interface - though I wish the record button was larger. This has the best interface of the available recording apps. • I love the fact that it can recognize and skip silent periods (i.e. stop and record only when one is speaking). • I love the fact that one can adjust the gain for recording a lecture, recording a group, or recording oneself (to reduce background noise). • I love the scrubbing strip so you can quickly skip to a section of the recording - this is so much better than iProRecorder's interface. Until Pro-Quality 44.1 kHz recording is added, however, I , disappointedly, cannot use this app and I have to give it THREE STARS as a rating. I have to use iProRecorder. If Pro-Quality 44.1 kHz recording is added, this is the best recorder app in the store - and I would give it FIVE STARS. The only other wish is to add an audio playback gain so that playing back through the iPhone's speakers can be much louder (like in iProRecorder).

Best recorder in app store bar none. To the guy who mentioned the security of the website, it's the ip address of your device on your home network not a website. I have many apps that connect the same way and there is no security concern since its your iphones ip on your router. The interface is different but great in my opinion and should not be changed. All in all this is the best voice recorder in the appstore in terms of quality and functionality. Slight learning curve but their help files are great. I use this to record lectures in a huge class. 5* app, highly recommended.

I can record my lecture classes with confidence! I had been struggling with Apple's crappy "Voice Memos" app for an entire semester before I finally gave up on it. That thing would shut off nearly every time I used it, and for no reason! I even had airplane mode on and plenty of space. HT Recorder just WORKS. It is worth every penny of $5. No more checking my phone every 30 seconds to see if it's still recording. HT is successful every time, the WHOLE time, and my classes are 3 hrs long. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Only 12 reviews? This is THE best audio recorder out there. The app's ability to capture according to environment is it's strength. I can put the phone 20ft away and still capture the conversation. It's not an app to capture studio quality sound but a recorder to capture a recording clear enough to be understood without strain on the ears. It just works. The autogain algorithm the developers did works well. I've deleted all other audio recorders from my phone and I've bought almost all of them till this came out. All my friends whom I've shown them it's capabilities have all bought this.

I'd agree with some of the earlier reviewers that this is a very, very good app, though the interface takes some getting used to. I record meetings and interviews every day for work, and I've tried several recording programs, including the built-in Voice Memos app, which disastrously lost a number of recordings. In combination with a Blue Mikey microphone on my iPod Touch, HT Recorder produces high quality recordings, even catching quiet stuff, keeps them in an easily accessible list, and has a relatively straightforward system for transferring them to your computer. The main screen has all the basic buttons I need, clearly labeled - New recording, Pause, Stop, Play, etc. The playback works as well as any app's, with a clear timer and useful 5 second forward/backward buttons. The odd parts are the curved volume meter, which takes more screen space than necessary, and the curved playback track, which should be much larger to allow easier scanning forward and back. Grabbing the playback square when you first start playback isn't as easy as it should be. Ideally, I'd like to see more forward/backward playback buttons, with maybe a 30 second option; the ability to email clips longer than 30 minutes; and, the Holy Grail, syncing with iTunes and transfer via the iPod Touch cable (which I believe Apple forbids or prevents). But after trying several other much weaker apps, this one is clearly the best.

HT Recorder is one of those apps I frequently use that does a terrific job of doing the task it's assigned. It records and catalogues audio very capably and takes very little time to load. The thing I just can't get over after many months of using it is how weird its interface is. The home screen is clearly designed with a smart idea in mind: the buttons are positioned along a curve that naturally matches the arc of a right-handed user's thumb when moving across the screen. However, the clever layout doesn't stop it from also being a bit unpleasant to look at. It's not mind-bogglingly ugly (see screenshots), but it doesn't conform to the usual, polished look of iPhone utility apps, which is mildly frustrating because I want familiarity in a recording utility. Nonetheless, my irritations with the app are purely cosmetic, and I think the developers have done a fine job with this recording app overall.

By far the best recording app ever. The only request is this... I want to be able to copy parts of a recording and mix it with another recording. And also make it so we can turn down the sensitivity of the mike. And change the playback speed and possibely reverse recording. I know this is a lot, but please see what you can do, thank you (:

Excellent app. Great support. The only problem is the speaker button, but the customer service agreed to update it. 5 stars. Hello. Thank you for using HT Recorder. At present there is not a way to set the speaker on or off by default. You would need to set it each time you start the program using the 'speaker' button.
