Action Log is a film and television logging tool, designed for use on location or in a studio with 1 recording device. At the touch of a button the logging system keeps track of all reel names and timecodes for each recorded piece of action.
This free version includes a complimentary slate to indent all your shots while on set.
Entry of comments is quick and easy by constructing clip names from predefined lists and use of the inbuilt keyboard.
If purchased in the app - all clips can be emailed as formatted log sheets sorted by reel name, for those who like to edit with printed logs in hand.

Does not replace a good script supervisor!!!!!!This app shows promise... but still has a long way to go. The description field in the log is WAY too short, and truncates any information after a certain point. Ive been a script supervisor for 20 years, but Im not familiar with some of the terms in the drop-down menus, and there are many more I would suggest. There is a separate field for "slate", but it only increments in single units. Therefore, to enter scene 122, you would have to press the + key 122 times! What about scenes with letters, like 22A? [I wonder if this app was invented in Europe, as they use a different, sequential, type of slating?] You can enter the scene number by typing in the description field, obviously, but that takes up room in an already brief area. But my biggest complaint is this: once you press "stop" at the end of the take, the description disappears and you cant add any more comments! Forget about adding any qualifiers, like out of focus, boom in shot, pickup, false start--which are all included as options-- youll never have the opportunity once the take is done. Its going to take you some practice to scroll through and find the comments you need BEFORE the scene ends. I hope you dont need to actually watch the scene, because youll be too busy tapping away on your iPhone if the take is short. Also, I had problems e-mailing the file--but to be fair, that might be a glitch in my setup. If youre only interested in the bare-bones logging of a simple shoot, this may work for you. But Im betting youll find yourself reaching for a pencil and paper before too long. My suggestions: Lengthen the description field! Change to scrolling wheels for slate numbers (Letter+3 digits+Letter/Letter) Allow auto take numbering (goes from take 1 to 2 after cut) Have a manual "enter" to send clip to bin after stop, to allow for comments after completion of take Talk to a script supervisor about terms to include in menus (how about No good camera? No good audio? instead of just general No Good) Etc.I know this is the wave of the future, and Im looking forward to being able to do my job completely on the iPhone-- but its still faster and more secure to do it by pencil and paper at this point. Maybe someday... This app needs improvement, but I applaud the folks that took the task on! Until then, my clipboard doesnt need "bars" for service and my pencil will never run out of batteries!

intuitive onset media loggingThis app is great - logging of multiple cameras, timecode at multiple frame rates and time-of-day (TOD) plus the ability to email the EDL back to post production too. Wow - I love it! Intuitive interface, wide frame rate choices, and a thorough, well-thought out workflow make a great onset app.

cool idea, needs tweakswell thought through interface, easy to use and professionally done. i did a test run in advance of the shoot and it works but im unable to erase the test clips and test project i created. how do i delete clips? the support forum is not operational and no contact info appears on the website. please help and ill add a star, and use it all the time. thanks!UPDATE: I found an email link on the developers homepage, sent a message and got an answer the same day, on Easter Sunday! turns out deleting clips is a simple swipe from right to left. If I could give em six stars for service, I would.ps. some people are giving low ratings because its not a true timecode master clock. This is like expecting an egg timer app to boil water. This app does as advertised and more.

A nice start for a free appI purchased the email add on and it seems to work well so far. The app is a little clunky and takes a few minutes to figure out some basics. Simple things like deleting a log or project was not obvious and was found only after reading another users review. It might be a good idea to include a reference guide within the app for some of the more common questions. It would be nice to be able to make changes while on the slate rather than going back to the other screens.I would like to also be able to have an option to do just audio logs for the Sound Mixer/recordist to use. I havent seen anyone else advertise this in their apps. Once again nobody cares about the sound guy. Also when I email the logs, Ive noticed it will include data for all other projects that are currently stored in the app. It would be great if you could single out only one project at a time to email.
