	Best patient education & staff training - all in one!!!At some point, pretty much every dentist has wanted to do 2 things: (1) be able to easily show a patient what will happen during the recommended treatment without having to scribble (badly) on a piece of paper, and (2) explain the same thing to a staff member so that person will know how to explain it to a patient. Until now, dentists have had little choice but to spend a lot of money on PC based applications served through their practice management software. The DDS GP YES! app for iPad has now solved BOTH of these questions with what is IMO the most portable, most affordable, most customizable patient education program available, and then paired with with training information for the dental team by one of the best dental educators around, Paul Homoly.Patients think youre the bomb just because you pull out the iPad at all, and then you show them a really easy-to-understand graphical illustration in full-color and a slider that lets you move back and forth through the procedure easily. Not only that, you can add your own illustrations, x-rays, and photographs through iTunes to the app, making it easier than ever to showcase your work. And youre not even done! Put together treatment plans, add the illustrations, add notes, and then send an email (maybe you even capture a signature right on the iPad!) straight to the patient.Seriously.......what more can you really want? Oh, free upgrades for life? Unlike the insane annual renewal fees as for CASEY, GURU, etc? Sure! The developers are kind of crazy IMO for doing that, but Im not going to turn them down.OF course, the real question is: is it EFFECTIVE? Well, lets put it this way: the FIRST patient to whom I showed the app, signed up that day for crown-lengthening the LR quadrant, 2 molar RCTs, and 2 BU/CEREC crowns. All told - over $6,000 in treatment. Ummmmmm, can we say ROI, BABY!!!! SWEET! Showing him what would happen with crown-lengthening was easier than Id ever thought possible, he said it made perfect sense.As for the Paul Homoly material? Geez - where are you going to get this kind of STAFF education by such a well-recognized dental speaker for this ridiculously low price? Add up the cost to take a staff of 3-5 to a 2-day workshop by Paul (hotel, flights, meals, etc) and compare.....NO BRAINER.There is only 1 other app that I like as much on my iPad, and that is iThoughtsHD Mind Mapping. This one is going to actually make me money, though. :-)

	WELL worth the investment!!The app is great and the pictures are very easy for the patients to understand....when they understand their problem they are much more accepting of treatment.But the real jewel is the team behind the app....their customer support is 2nd to none! I have had a couple of glitches and they have been right there to help. Congrats DDS GP team! Especially Tracy! You have an awesome product!!!! Keep up the good work!!!

	Not worth the $100 extraDont bother spending the extra $100 for the "talking heads" commentary. The app is OK for the most part, and very primitive in some areas. The illustrations could really stand improvement, but some of the animations, like those taken directly from Nobel Biocare are very good. Tech support is non-existent in my experience with it. I have written several times requesting improvements and making suggestions for added content, and havent ever gotten the slightest reply from Kick Your Apps. I even tried calling on several occasions, but no one ever answers the phone there. Updates are frequent, but they never state exactly what was added or updated. All that is offered is "update to some content.". Overall, the app has been helpful in getting the truly unable to grasp a concept patient understand what you are proposing for them. I paid extra for Homolys content, but, its worthless unless you are a truly communication-challenged dentist. Any dentist with a shred of common sense already knows this stuff, or, has read it already in some throw-away journal article written by a "dental practice consultant.". I guess I was hoping there was "something new under the sun," but its all the "same old, same old" of helping the patient "take ownership of their problem" advice we all know already.

	Lots of potential... Waiting for updates.The categories of procedures are not able to be modified by the user. Some categories are stuffed to excess, such as invisalign and clear retainers - approx 15 each. While other categories are too limited, such as occlusion and tmj. You cant add or delete categories or subcategories. Doesnt let you import your own videos. Havent seen any improvements yet. Hope they havent given up on it.

	A great adjunct!This app allows you to quickly and impressively explain and discuss virtually any procedure with your patients. Not needing to draw pictures of teeth or carry around models from operatory to operatory is a true time saver. In the same way that a CAD/CAM machine or a diode laser can change the way you practice dentistry, this app will change the way you interact with your patients. The ability to add in your own clinical photos allows for a personalized touch that patients appreciate as well. This app is worth every penny!!
