Unbelievable!I am amazed by this app and feel that its an incredible bargain (to say the least).Just last week I was lamenting how difficult it would be to code fixed layout iBooks (for the iPad) by hand. Then presto, out of the blue, this app appeared which is really unbelievable. Now I can make fixed layout books right there on my iPad, importing photos through iPhoto, and creating text blocks that I can move around and style to my hearts content. Sure, it doesnt do everything I would like, but this first version makes it very easy to create a usable book, and at the very least lets me create a "near finished" fixed layout book all ready for unzipping, tweaking, and re-zipping.This app should be extremely popular, especially once it enables the addition of audio recordings and video clips, which I understand will be integrated into future versions.Three cheers for a brilliant and empowering application!

Good but a little buggy for meI think the app has a great user friendly (I am used to the Pages like formatting options) interface. I have quickly made books for my family to enjoy and can see using this in my classroom. I have Creative Book Builder too and think thats more adult oriented and Book Creator is more kid friendly. However, I have experienced a few issues with Book Creator. My first book lost 21/24 pages Id created when I closed by going to my books and when I reopened 21 pages of illustration and text were gone (blank). I havent had that happen again, but I have had photos disappear or double unexpectedly. Frustratingly, it freezes when I go to email the book and Overdrive & Presentation options say not supported at this time. Still, a good app, one that once the bugs are worked out, will be awesome. Being able to add links and video would make this amazing.

Great App, Thank You!!!This is a great application, most of all if you illustrate childrens books. Even if you are not going to self publish an e-book, this application is ideal for creating mock ups quickly and easily. I have been exploring this application since the day I got it and at first it appears to be a very simple application. However, it really is very powerful in what it will allow you to quickly program. I am put images behind other images, and layer a page. I can insert backgrounds with text. I can quickly change fonts. The formatting lines helps me know exactly when I am in position with text or images. The preview option in the Ibooks application allows me to quickly check my work. The email option allows me to share the book with others. This application is not quite as additive as Angry Birds, but close.

Awesome app at an even more awesome priceWe were lucky enough to be one of the beta testers for Book Creator and used it to lay out our iBook, "Are You My Friend?" (now in the iBookstore). It saved days of production time and took out all the guesswork as to whether our iBook would look the same on an iPad. Not an issue, since we were laying it out full-size on an iPad and could quickly pop into iBooks to confirm everything.We wanted to include sound and music, and the new synchronized text highlighting feature of enhanced iBooks. Since this is not a capability of Book Creator, we had to export the epub file back to our Mac and add this in by hand. But even with that extra step, the layout capabilities made Book Creator an essential part of our iBooks production workflow.If youre a writer/illustrator and wondered whether you could turn your childrens picture book into an iBook, even if you dont have any technical background, then with Book Creator, the answer is YES! Even if you have no interest in publishing your iBook on the iBookstore, its still a great tool to create an epub file that you could distribute to others. Go for it!

It just wouldnt send. I worked around the problem by sending it to dropbox. Ive emailed the developer. Hopefully this issue gets fixed quickly.

RippoffI dont usually write reviews but this app is so awful I wanted to warn people. For $6.99 I expected a few more features than what it has, which is essentially nothing. There are free apps out there that do more than this software. You cant even rotate an image. They actually tell you to get another app to do that and then import it into their app. You cant change the size or the orientation of a page. I must admit though that I dont know if that is a function of the ePub format or a flaw with this app. I wanted to use this to create photo books. The majority of my photos being horizontal I wanted to work in that orientation. The fix is to layout the image over a double page spread. When viewed in IBook, there is a virtual fold down the center of the picture. Its not a real book. Why put in this piece of verisimilitude when its better off without it?

A casual tool for a casual author. I feel a little betrayed.This app does what it professes to do, but many of the other reviewers are accurate when they say that its lack of features for serious authors are a BIG turn-off. A note to the developer—feel free to let the app-purchaser know what your app does NOT do: scalable/adjustable text, zoom-able images, and any other missing features consistent with EVERY published ePub iBook that Ive purchased. Its easy to use, but thats about it. If youre a serious author, consider a serious tool like Calibre for Mac. Ill keep my eye on this little-engine-that-might, but I shouldnt have to visit the developers website support page to discover that Book Creator DOESNT really create fully functional ePub files, at least not until you email them to yourself, import them to Calibre or some other hideous tool and have your nerdy way with them. Sad that this seven dollar app isnt as fully functional as I expected, but maybe thats my fault.

Great app for creating childrens books.I installed this app and in less than an hour had a childrens book for my 4y/o granddaughter. I took pictures from our recent trip to Disney and added some simple text. My wife narrated the book. We emailed it to our granddaughter. From the time I downloaded the app to the time that she was reading the book was less that 2 hrs. Great program, simple to use, great results.Thanks

The Best of the BestThis app is wonderful for creating EPUBs. It reminds me of the early days of Mac software, when the apps were easy to use and productivity flowed. If you have been wasting time reading all the HOW-TO-MANUALS for EPUB creation, and getting nowhere fast, BOOK CREATOR will be like discovering a gold mine. If you are a graphic designer and are frustrated with the limits of EPUB books, here is a product which allows full page, edge to edge, high quality layouts. Its page-by-page fine tuning is akin to working with Photoshop and PDF images. Simply drag in your saved files from your iPhoto library, press a button, and your EPUB is loading into iBooks, ready to read, email or sell in the iBookstore. What could be easier? A five star rating for this superbly crafted app.

Wonderful and powerful app for creating truly illustrated epubsThe Mr. Jones that reviewed who wrote a review of this app obviously did not fully comprehend the capabilities of Book Creator. No, it is not perfect, but for a first version of an App it rocks. I created three illustrated books with this App and it is fully compliant with Apple and other aggregators. This powerful app does what no other app on a Mac or PC does. It creates fix format epubs for picture books. It does it well and it is easy to use.
