I upgraded to version 3.1.1 and have found the release to be buggy. I noted the following issues: 1. the map function to incorrectly identify post codes for calculating routes 2. not all routes (or incorrect routes) are returned by a "plan" 3. using the "map" function makes my iPhone misbehave and I have to reboot the iPhone Overall very disappointing - I've disabled it on my iPhone

The journey planner is great. You can tell it to limit choices to bus or tube, or let it show whichever mode is faster. It specifies which bus stop (some areas--e.g. Trafalgar Square-- have many stops spread over a large area and you need the right one for the specific bus), and the end point so you know how the bus/train will be labeled. It's great for spontaneous roaming around the city--it will tell you how to get to ___ from your current location. Riding the buses around London is one of the best ways to explore the city, and will rescue you when your feet decide they've had enough. It does require an Internet connection (buy international data for the month--it's worth it). Theoretically, you can search your journey ahead of time when you have wifi, and them access it offline when you need it. However, I was disappointed to find that the history list was very buggy and unreliable. if the history was more reliable, I would give this 5 stars.

London Bus Saves the Day!Pros: real-time journey planning adjusts to closed tube lines, accurate down to the minute (really!), looks at all modes of transport including rail lines as far out as Oxford, saves to history for offline viewing, its only $0.99!Cons: requires data connection, sometimes had trouble finding an address or POI as a destination (but worked excellently when using stations), a static map of the Tube would be helpful for referenceWe just got back from 2 weeks in London and surrounding areas and used London Bus every day, several times a day. Even with the cons I gave London Bus 5 stars because it worked so WELL in a couple desperate situations and saved us from wasting hours of time and also some money making the wrong transport choices. Here is a story that illustrates my point. We needed to take the Victoria line to Kings Cross Station to catch a 9:30am train (we HAD to catch this specific train for our cheap fare). We showed up at Pimlico, which is a mere 5 stops down the Victoria line from Kings Cross, at 8:35am, thinking we had plenty of time. The Victoria line was unexpectantly closed due to some train failure. It turns out the next best way to Kings Cross is very much out of the way but using London Bus, it gave me accurate up-the-minute data of our options TAKING INTO ACCOUNT VICTORIAs CLOSURE (an offline program would have simply kept telling us to take the Victoria line). It also gave us how LONG it would take on the tube, which we compared to how long a taxi driver told it would take by taxi. All this information allowed us to figure out that we could barely make our train if we took the Tube lines recommended. We did make our train (with a minute to spare, which is exactly what London Bus predicted we would do--really--down to the minute). If we had had to figure it out ourselves using a tube map (it was a very unintuitive route), or had taken the taxi and got stuck in rush hour traffic, we very well may have missed to train.It also saved us a bunch of time when we mistakenly got on the slow local train from Oxford (it told us to change at Reading for a faster train). It saved my feet from blisters after a long day walking by showing us the right bus from Kew Gardens to the Tube station and telling us it would be along in 5 minutes (since my impatient husband did not want to wait long). It got us home from Greenwich on the DLR after we had taken the boat there. It told us when the suburban train to Worcester Park would finally arrive when so many other trains passing through the station were NOT going there. And it worked for many many more routine trips.To be so accurate, London Bus does need a data connection. Coming from the States, I signed up for an international data plan before I left. In 2 weeks, I used about 50Meg data including all the London Bus stuff and a little light web surfing and map location. But I was careful not to download email, update the calendar and I never used the phone (I kept it in Airplane Mode when not in use). It was well worth the data plan cost for the time and aggravation it saved us. Another way to use it if you have WiFi in your hotel, is to connect to wifi, select your journeys, then they are saved in the History section, which you can refer to offline. The only problem is they are not current--so if there is a sudden line closure--it will be incorrect information.

Really requires iPhone?Access to the maps appears to require an internet connection. As the description indicated that the application was iTouch compatible I did not expect this requirement. This limits the usefullness of the application as an iTouch tool. Perhaps the description should be modified to clearly indicate the limited functionality of the software without an active internet connection.From playing with the application after downloading, it seems that the GPS feature of the iPhone is also a critical element in using the maps. Again, "iTouch compatible" seems to be a stretch.

Very good app, few improvements would make it even nicer..This is an excellent app, esp because it brings an easy-to-handle version of tfls journey planner to the iPhone. Would be nice if one could choose between the different options when entering ambiguous addresses.For the nightbusses, it would be nice to integrate a map.Overall, thats a very useful app - must-have for any Londoner who likes to go out and relies on nightbusses..

London Bus Tube And RailReally a useful app. The route info let us change our plans on the fly when I didnt have a wifi signal for my iPod We went everywhere in London from our out of the way flat following the routes planned out. Perfect for a tourist. And I saw one local using the app too.

Great App, Better Service!!!I just recently moved to London and I definitely needed something like this to help me with my surroundings. The app itself was good, but what impressed me more was the customer service. I was having an issue with the app crashing on one particular function, so I emailed Malcolm and within a few minutes he got back to me, was able to, diagnosis the problem and help me fix it. Major budThis app is great, but dont upgrade. You cant change locations for travel TO or FROM after you input your first location. You can go to routes or map to change location, but does not bring up station list after first entry. Please fix quickly. I use this APP all the time.

Exactly what I was looking forI used to use iTube on my iPhone and it was adequate, but not great. I was looking for an app that would take full advantage of the iPad and give me full route planning capabilities of TfL. This is it. Im thrilled.
