Description

iCab Mobile is a web browser for the iOS. It provides many unique and useful features you wont find in other iPhone browsers.
SEARCHING:
iCab Mobile comes with several default search engines you can choose from. You can easily add new search engines. Search suggestions from google and yahoo can be activated on the iPad. Its also possible to search within a web page.
FILLING OUT FORMS:
iCab Mobile can save web forms and restore the form content later (manually or automatically). The saved forms data can be password protected.
FILTER:
Theres a built-in and customizable URL-based filter. The default filters block many advertising banners. You can edit, add or remove filters. Its possible to switch off images to save bandwidth.
TABS:
iCab Mobile supports Tabs, so you can open multiple web pages at the same time. Links can be opened in Tabs (in the foreground or background) manually or automatically. iCab can save the tabs when quitting so these can be loaded even when being offline, the next time the App is launched.
BOOKMARKS:
Bookmarks can be organized in folders. You can import/export the bookmarks from/to your PC/Mac browser. Bookmarks can be also saved as Offline Bookmarks which can be even opened without an internet connection.
FULLSCREEN MODE:
iCab Mobile provides a fullscreen mode where the whole screen is used to display the web page. No screen space is wasted for toolbars.
DOWNLOADS:
iCab Mobile has a built-in Download Manager so you can download almost all files from the internet. The downloads can be easily transfered to a Mac/PC/Linux computer but also to other Apps on the device which can open these files (iOS 3.2 or newer required).
SCROLLING
The unique Scrollpad feature lets instantly scroll to any location within a web page (Tap with three fingers on the screen to activate the Scrollpad).
GUEST MODE
iCab Mobile itself can be password protected. When password protection is on, you can enable a guest mode with limited privileges which is available without a password. The guest mode can have its own subset of bookmarks and search engines.
DROPBOX
iCab Mobile supports Dropbox. Export/Import bookmarks; transfer downloads, images, files, web pages to your Dropbox account.

This is currently, IMO, the best browser on the iPad. Not only tabs done right, but a bookmark bar to boot. It renders fast and has been exceptionally reliable. Great work!

Not sure what you people's gripe is about the icon but it is no reason to rate a "very" good app at an "extremely" low price with fewer stars. People get over yourselves. This product, including the icon, that I see nothing wrong with, is what this developer wanted. It seems when you give a customer such an outstanding product at an extremely low price, they will find something to complain about. With all the apps on iTunes one has to create that icon that will stand out, and this one does. The icon represents a Cab, as in Taxi, in case none of you noticed that. The icon is artistically creative and unique, much like the product. You won't find anything like it on iTunes. iCab has galore settings, is very fast and makes me feel like I'm setting at my MacPro browsing the web, but on my iPad. It is sleek and smooth, very well thought out and put together. I would have gladly paid much more for this app because it is worth it. Buy it, you won't be disappointed with it like the other browsers being offered, especially the one that is the highest price for any browser on iTunes. Any, FYI, I am not affiliated with the developer. I never even heard of this app until I came on getting Opera for iPad. For the developer of iCab, keep up the outstanding work. Would love to see more from you but raise your prices and get paid for you hard work. *****+ Remember, you can't please ever customer. There is always that customer that will find something to complain about, especially when they can find nothing wrong or are jealous. :0)

I have used this app for over a year and I think it's time to give it the applause it deserves. It has always been one of the most advanced browser in the app store and they are always adding more features. It's on my home screen. Great features: password lock, browser spoofing, privacy settings,downloading, etc.

I bought this entirely for the ability to download files while away from my desktop computer and found it has so many other excellent features like bookmark importing (because iCab can't connect to MobileMe), ad blocking, tabbed browsing, password lock (so I can keep my own bookmarks and cookies private and separate than Mobile Safari), and javascript (I assume) modules. I know that this is still the WebKit engine, but if you were looking for the most Firefox like iPhone OS browser, this would be my recommendation.

If you have an iPad you need this app, period. This is the app that turned my iPad into a serious work tool and a joy to use with the web, the one Apple should have built, and a huge relief after hours of frustration with Safari's lack of real tabs and other tabbed browsers' lack of features. Loaded tabs stay loaded when you switch away and then back, unlike Safari which seems to "forget" and have to reload pages whenever you switch windows. The design of icab is effortlessly useable and endlessly customizable, not to mention open to innovation (check out the "module download" option). Passwords and forms are autofilled wherever you want them to be, so you can log in to pages without having to type them out. There is even a download manager! I no longer feel like I'm using a toy version of the web when I use my iPad. Forget Atomic. This is the browser you want.

Been using it for a day now and love it. However, app crashes when trying to use the guest mode. Please fix this and possibly add multitouch gestures like Atomic Web Browser. That would make it a five star app!

Works the way Safari SHOULD. I love that tabs are cached instead of reloaded, it was really starting to get my skin in Safari and was what actually prompted me to look for an alternative browser. Opening tabs in the background to let them load is very useful, too. As a fan of minimalist interfaces, full screen mode is great. A couple of suggestions for it to be pretty much perfect: -Have the bookmark bar be able to behave like in Safari; hidden until you tap on the URL or search field. -A way to type in URLs in full screen mode; currently you have to exit full screen mode, enter your URL, then re-enter full screen mode.

A beautiful implementation of Webkit with tabbed browsing that seems to work better than Mobile Safari's system of keeping open pages in a separate window. It is easy and intuitive to open links in new tabs while staying on the same page until you are done with it. Fast scrolling and other well thought out features make using iCab Mobile a breeze. I have just two little quibbles which I hope the developer manages to address in some future release: Why does Increase Text Size have only one, uselessly gigantic increment, and no option to Decrease Size other than reloading the whole page? Also when importing bookmarks there is an option to replace the default set, which should have been great. But instead of copying my individual folders into the bookmarks bar, iCab just dumped them all into one big folder there. This makes for a frustrating experience when trying to open individual folders in tabs. Wish there were some way of re-arranging things. Other than the above mentioned little quirks, I am pretty thrilled with this alternative to Safari, well worth the two bucks any day!

 Beyond the Tech
For some users, the ability to actually download a file is worth the small price tag alone. All the other features that native Safari lacks are worthy add-ons, too. The interface is elegant and in-line with all of Apple's other apps, unlike some other "replacement" browsers out there. However, the issue still remains when one needs to upload a file (or a picture, for that matter). I'm not sure if it's a limitation of the WebKit engine, since Safari also lacks this feature, but you can't send a file up to a website. The button simply remains greyed out. Unfortunately, that's where my money went to gamble, since there was nothing explicitly stating that you could upload a file - I just figured if you could download, you might be able to upload. A future update perhaps? Lastly, it won't synchronize with MobileMe's bookmarks, another hindrance that might be able to be resolved with a future update? Other than that, it is the best alternative WebKit-based browser out there.

This app is good, but the new A1 browser for iPad does it better, with a nicer interface and also with a nice icon !! I've been asking for weeks an icon improvement and I am not the only one. However nobody listens, so I change my rating to 1 star only. Again, I just discovered this new A1 browser and it's similar, maybe even slightly better, with a nice icon for the iPad...
