This app has three primary strengths. First is that it implements GTD better than anything else I've tried. You get full context/project functionality and flexibility with this app, and seamless switching between context and project views. In many ways, this app is like a database manager for tasks in that you can organize your tasks in many ways according to different criteria, all within a few taps. Next is that it provides a level of organization and customization second to none. You can do just about anything you can imagine in terms of organizing your tasks with this app and the matching Mac app. It allows you to completely implement GTD methods of availability organization of events and tasks, you can have single tasks that are always available, or you can mix and match. Third is that the synchronization between the two is flawless, once it's set up. It will even remind you to sync if you go longer than a certain period of time, which you can set yourself. Weaknesses: Sometimes OmniFocus on my Mac seems to 'forget' my iPhone and I have to get them talking again which often takes a number of attempts, even when everything is set up correctly. There is also no way to add a reminder to a task, the one glaring flaw in Omni's system. Even though you shouldn't have a lot of tasks for any given project if you're really adhering to GTD methods, sometimes it's nice to be able to make reminders to do things and schedule them for certain times or at regular intervals, such as take allergy meds every day. I still haven't found a way to do that with either the Mac or iPhone apps. Overall this is the best system I've ever used for task management. It lets you implement GTD as closely or as loosely as you like, it keeps everything up to date between your Mac and your phone, and it provides a lot of power and flexibility.

just to let everyone know omnifocus does have notifications and it's actually the best and most reliable notifications that you can get with the iPhones limited sdk in my opinion. So all this talk and long reviews like it doesn't is completely false. Just look at the omnifocus forums and educate yourself a little on how to use the product it's really not that hard. By the way best GTD app by far extremely feature rich and if you know David Allens system it will change your life!

It does everything I need it to do, right on my iPhone. I keep it on my dock. I actually *use* it frequently each day. Quick access to the Inbox; sorting can be done later (and easily). I recommend watching the demo video.

My only wish is for it to add some sort of beep or something when I am near an available action like when I pass a best buy or something but I don't even know if thats possible so besides that its perfect. I use it everyday and don't know where I'd be without it, or how I got stuff accomplished before. If you are familiar with GTD and need its functionality on the go this is certainly what you need, but if your just looking for something simple to record to do's this could work but I would recommend just using your notepad. It was worth every penny of the near $100 I spent on this and the app for the mac.

While the UI isn't as slick as I'd like, Omnifocus functions as advertised. In order to get the most out of it, shell out the cash for the desktop app(there should be a package btw) and MobileMe. Even though this trifecta will set you back a bit on the front, if you are serious about digitazing your workflow using a GTD based system, this is the way to go. Without a doubt Omnifocus+ MobileMe+GTD has changed my life.

I downloaded this app to my iPhone 3G after I read up on it and watched the videos online. However, it seems to be buggy. I try to add things that I have to do including locations and contexts. However, I created a new context for a project and it does not appear on the specified Context group or under the locations group where it should. Also, it seems to not update itself. For example, I created an action with a due date and it does not appear on any of the "smart groups" such as "due soon." Lastly, the application crashes repeatedly forcing me back to the iPhone's home screen. I hope that they release an update soon because I want to really use this program.

Like everyone has said already, this app, combined with the desktop version, is wonderfully helpful for anyone who has to "get stuff done". After struggling with various products, both web-based and not, OmniFocus is the only solution out there that: - Is intuitive to use, whether you're a GTD person or not - Syncs flawlessly with your desktop or a WebDAV server - Has no monthly fee (although the upfront cost is steep, it pays for itself quickly) Thank you, OmniGroup! I used OmniFocus for almost a year. I liked it as I struggled to implement the GTD plan. However, I thought it was overly complicated, and much more expensive than other options out there. The iPhone version of OmniFocus continues this tradition of being too much for the price of too much. I am opting for a different task management software.

Need completed smart group for review and quick deletion. Multiple contexts needed. Duplication of tasks needed so I can create weekly tasks from templates. Notes in projects should be visible with an option for reference, contact info. Should have it's own calendar so need not exit app while planning. A B C priorities and sorting needed. Projects should have option to be treated as trackable goals. Also need to be able to select more than one but not all tasks in a project as actionable. Better is to provide option to select type of action eg. next action, waiting, planning, hold etc.

This app won't be going universal; it won't be optimized for the iPad. Therefore, in june, the price of this app will drop and many recent buyers will be upset or we will have to decide if an iPad todo list is worth 40 bucks. In many cases, this will be in addition to the 100 already spent on the desktop and iPhone versions. The price of each alone or just the desktop and the iPhone app combo may be a good value to many, but how about the value of having all three (without discount)? Depending on your lifestyle, I think the iPad version erodes the value of the desktop version or the iPhone app respectively. I can see having the Desktop app and one of the mobile app, but the value of having all three seems very dubious. Additionally, having just having both mobile apps seems redundant. Yes, I know what you are thinking. What about additional features? These "features" would have to be phenomenal and be viewed as compulsory... Don't you think? Well don't you? You are the one who will be carrying two mobile versions of OmniFocus. Unless, you just stop using the iPhone version. It was only 20 bucks. That's just a pizza. We aren't in a recession... Hey, you may find that you don't need the desktop version either. The iPad is in arms reach. Why switch on the computer or slow it down with another process? You could just stop using it. It's only 80 bucks. I've spent more than that on a Friday night. Well before the recession... So, no universal version.. Hey, you iPad WiFi users may want to think even harder about the iPad version. The OmniFocus GPS features found in the iPhone version may be disabled for you or require a third party solution such as the OverDrive Hotspot, which is GPS enabled, but will it work?

For those who are using Omnifocus on the desktop and can facilitate the synchronization part of this app, (it is quite simple on Mobile Me), I must say that it works marvelously. Add something to an inbox, project, etc, and it is there on the desktop or on the phone before you know it. Great product, will look forward to continual improvements and functions. This software works well getting things done. One of the best which works. Syncing, all sorts of features which enable you make it as detailed and complete or as simple and uncomplicated as you need. OmniFocus is good and utilitarian. And it's reliable. I've tinkered with OF and Things repeatedly for over a year. I want to like Things, but OF is more reliable. The 1.6 update brings a huge increase in sync speed and introduces perspectives to the iPhone version. They aren't yet perfect but show the Omni folks are heading in the right direction. If you have a Mac, then Omnifocus on iPhone and on the desktop is the most powerful productivity combo available today.
