Why carry a laptop when you can do all your work from the palm of your hand? Mides is a PHP IDE you can use to build PHP based web applications from your iPad, iPhone, or your iPod Touch. It allows you to navigate your files in an intuitive fashion, tailored specifically to the iPhone OS revolutionary design paradigm.
Mides currently handles, .php, .htm(l), .xml, .js, .erb, .jsp, .and .css files, with the ability to play media files as well.
Mides unfortunately at this time does not have a built-in php interpreter, however in the future this functionality will hopefully be present.

FTP Servers and hosts that Mides has been tested with: Dreamhost, mac os x ftpd, ubuntu 8 & 9 ftpd, and Cross FTP Server.
If you are using a Windows based FTP server, you may have minor issues with folders and file names.
Mides requires that files be UTF-8 encoded, if they are not you will see a blank screen, or other artifacts when viewing.

	WaitI should have waited to buy this app. I was looking for something like this. But it just doesnt work at all. You can connect to an FTP site. But that is where it ends. Nothing ever comes up on the right hand side pane to edit. I have tried downloading the files, uploading the files, etc. And no luck. This was on a SFTP connection. I was really hoping this would be what I was looking for but I was greatly disappointed. When they fix all of these issues I will come back here and rate them better (or I will keep waiting for Coda for the iPad!)

Firstly, the in-app keyboard is the iPad standard board, meaning that all common special characters are two layers down. Code is displayed in very small type that is difficult to read. The native iPad spelling autocorrect applies, changing tag and function names. Forget about their special Tab button, it crashes the app frequently. The app crashes often, regardless. Code is not marked up or checked live, so it is more of a text editor than a real IDE. Get a free text app, it will work better for your needs than this.

	Works nowWhen I first purchased this app I was frustrated. No landscape view, editing files was confusing, and it did not amount to much more than a simple text editor with FTP support. Im glad to say the newest updates have vastly improved the app. Now all this app needs is decent syntax highlighting and maybe a simple autocomplete to make it the #1 portable webdev solution.

	Difficult To ManageI purchased this software in hopes that Id be able to do some mobile development while freelancing. I found that I was unable at all to connect to my FTP server because I assume I did put in the paths like it wanted.The error message while connecting doesnt tell you what you did wrong. It basically says "Hey, you did something wrong" and kicks you back out.In my opinion, this software is a horrible execution of an underdeveloped concept. I eventually went with free software to do what I wanted.UpdateEven after negative reviews, the developer seems content to not bother updating. Find a different app: this one is now dead and useless.

	Getting BetterJan 21, 09:I bought it, but havent used of too much due to some annouances like nesting. But that was recently coverted into an optional feature. The app seems to be on a continual path of improvement. My hopes are that he doesnt give up on the project... 	Do not buy this appI have had this app forever. I bought it when the developer proudly wanted $10, thinking that I could edit my projects from the bus. Sadly it was too convoluted at the time. At least now, after many many updates, its kind of usable in an extreme pinch. There are a couple of things that make it unusable:Lack of code coloring.Lack of landscape editing. Strange wrapping of text that makes lines of uncolored code difficult to read. There are also mentions in updates about bugs related to formatting issues when saving to your server, such as losing tabs etc. Also, I feel incredibly uncomfortable adding /t to represent 5 spaces.All in all, in not certain I trust this app. I wish airshare would allow me to edit HTML like it does PHP. At least airshare has code coloring. Better IDE than this, and airshare is supposed to be an FTP server.

	Dont Buy This App.This app is not what youre looking for. Trust me. It may seem like what youve been searching for for oh so long, but its not. No editing files on the FTP server. No moving, copying, or renaming files on the server. Glitchy. Prone to crashes. Etc. Whats really, really sad is that Mides IDE has so much potential, for instance, in the offline preview functionality and built-in web server. But even those are wrought with problems, and remote preview doesnt even work. Plus, the developers websites down, meaning no chance of customer support. I feel really let down by this app, especially since Ive been thinking about getting it for such a long time.In short, dont buy this app. Go with something like FTP on the Go instead. At $6.99, its a lot less pricey, looks good from the screenshots and description, and has been positively reviewed by several trusted sources. If youve got an iPad, youll need to get the the PRO version, though, which is three dollars more than the regular one, but it still costs less than Mides IDE, and is universal, so it works on all your devices.If youve alreay bought this app, and your purchase was less than ninety days ago, I recommend getting a refund, as this is a very expensive app, and was a waste of my money. There are instructions on how to do it online. I plan to follow them immediately after hitting "Send" on this review.

	Filezilla ServerThis FTP client is incompatible with Filezilla FTP server. When it requests files, it includes the date as part of the file name and produces an error. Hello.txt becomes DEC 13 2010 Hello.txt and then the server doesnt know what file the client is talking about and errors out.See known issues.
